CHILD LANGUAGE OUTCOMES & DISORDERS (CLOuD) LAB
University of South Carolina | Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
What We Do
This lab is directed by Dr. Erin Smolak, Ph.D. We are housed in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Carolina. Our research focuses on language and cognitive (e.g., attention, working memory) development in preschool- and school-aged children with typical language development and children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). DLD is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects about 2 children in every classroom of 30. Children with DLD have difficulty with speaking and understanding language. If you want to learn more about DLD, or if you think you or your child might have DLD, you can find more resources at DLDandme.org or RADLD.org.
